Autumn in floriculture is synonymous with “getting ready for winter” to come. We prune perennials to ensure vibrant regrowth in spring, we store the equipment used during the season in the apprentice, sharpen and maintain tools, and sow green manures to protect our soils. On a more personal note, we also savor the very first comforting moments of this ancestral gesture: putting wood on the fire. Through these autumnal rituals, we prepare ourselves for “the coming spring” and its successive blooms!
