Sow indoors 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost and transplant when all risk of frost has passed or sow directly outdoors when all risk of frost has passed.

Harvest when the stems are firm and a few flowers are open. Immediately after harvesting, immerse the stem tips in boiling water for 7 to 10 seconds to stop the flow of the milky sap.
