Dahlias produce several flowers per plant and over a period of several weeks if given proper care.
It is necessary to dig up the tubers in the fall and store them in winter because they cannot tolerate frost.

Dahlias can be grown in pots as long as the pot is AT LEAST 12 to 14 inches in diameter and 12 inches deep.

Harvest flowers when they are 3/4 open (unfolded), but not overripe. Dahlias do not open once cut. Place in cool water. Flowers last 3 to 5 days in a vase.
