Sow indoors 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost and transplant outdoors when all risk of frost has passed.

Harvest when the flower petals are completely separated from each other. This means the flowers are mature. Florets that are too young will wilt. The flowers can also be dried for later use. Remove all foliage and hang the freshly cut stems upside down in a warm, dark place for 2 to 3 weeks, or until firm to the touch.
