Matthiola incana
Wallflowers are very fragrant with a peppery scent that we love. This variety is not pre-selected to offer a higher rate of double flowers. It contains between 50% and 60% double flowers. Therefore, you need to sow 50% more seeds if you want to achieve an exact rate of double flowers. Double flowers are fleshier and have a much more interesting visual impact than single flowers. A spring staple for several years at Floramama!
***Seed orders will be prepared and delivered starting mid-March. An email will be sent upon delivery of orders.

Wallflowers thrive in cool weather. Sow 6 weeks before the last frost and transplant as early as possible into the garden. They need support such as staking or horizontal trellis netting as they grow to prevent them from drooping and bending their stems.
This variety produces only one flowering stem per plant. It is important not to deadhead them as this will stop flowering.
Wallflowers are members of the brassica family, which are popular with flea beetles. Cover with insect netting when transplanting if necessary.
Harvest when the flower stalk is well stretched and half of the flowers are open.
7 to 10 days in a vase.
