Germination is slow and erratic and can take up to 2 weeks, so be patient. Conditioning the seeds by placing them in the freezer or refrigerator for 2 weeks will help speed up the germination process. The best way to sow bells of Ireland is to sow them directly into the ground about 4 weeks before the last risk of frost. Simply press the seeds into the soil without covering them. Alternatively, sow in trays about 8 weeks before the last risk of frost. Do not cover the seeds with soil and irrigate from below, i.e. by capillary action by placing the tray in a container with water at the bottom. Transplant when all risk of frost has passed.

Harvest when the bells are green, firm and half of the flower stalk is open.

Easily 10 days in a vase.
