Celosia argentea spicata

This variety of celosia is particularly easy to grow and harvest. The plants produce has A profusion of tall, sturdy, straight stems with few leaves to remove. The flower spikes open from the bottom up and fade over time from lilac to pale pink with a silvery sheen. We produce these in large quantities each year. One of our favorite celosias!

Sow indoors 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost and transplant outdoors when all risk of frost has passed. Cover the seeds only lightly as light aids germination. Celosias like warmth.

Harvest when the flowers on the bottom third are open and the stems are stiff. Remove 3/4 of the foliage at harvest. The flowers can also be dried for later use. Remove all leaves and hang the freshly cut stems upside down in a warm, dark place for 2 to 3 weeks or until firm to the touch.

7 to 10 days in a vase.
