Callistephus chinensis

Similar in color to the moonstone variety but with fine petals. A captivating color reminiscent of a silvery full moon . This lavender-taupe beauty has subtle metallic highlights that add an extra dimension to bouquets. Each plant can have up to a dozen stems topped with ruffled flowers. The petals are slightly curved and the flowers hold up well both in the garden and in a vase.

Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost and transplant outdoors when all risk of frost has passed. Covering the crop with insect netting helps prevent the spread of aster yellows virus by leafhoppers. Fusarium-resistant variety.

Harvest when the outer petals of the flowers begin to open. Immediately after harvesting, remove the foliage from the lower half of the stem and place in water.
