Alcea Rosea

This hollyhock variety produces numerous, absolutely incredible pink/peach flowers on very large flower stems, which brighten up borders and create dynamic floral arrangements. The plants are very perennial, meaning that the flowers, if not harvested, will then produce seeds that will fall to the ground and germinate the following spring.
The flowers open successively from bottom to top along the stem and attract numerous pollinators.

Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost and transplant outdoors when all risk of frost has passed.

Harvest as soon as 2-3 flowers are open. Remove all foliage and any faded flowers. Burn the tips of the stems for 10 seconds to cauterize the cut. Place in a vase and remove faded flowers as new buds open.
